Codex entry: woodcutting (F2P)

Output: codex/training/woodcutting-f2p.yaml — closes #3.

Content

  • F2P tree tiers, each verified from the wiki (tree-page infoboxes + location lists, 2026-08-27): Tree (1, 25 xp), Oak (15, 37.5 xp), Willow (30, 67.5 xp), Yew (60, 175 xp). State machine per tier: idle (level_is tier gate) → walk → chop (item_count/level_is gates) → bank → loop.
  • Corrections to the issue draft, per the "verify each" instruction:
    • "45 Pine" is disproven: OSRS pine trees (Shayzien/Varlamore, added 2021) are scenery only and cannot be chopped (wiki Pine tree page). Level 45 is Maple — members content (all practical spots members-only). Both stated in the entry's handoff note.
    • Willow is level 30 (not 1); Maple is members (not an F2P tier).
  • economy: logs as income — live prices 2026-08-27 (willow sell 21, oak 42, yew 112); anchor = Draynor Village willows (bankside). Per-log XP from wiki infoboxes; hourly rates are explicitly labeled estimates (wiki XP × assumed chop rate).
  • best_practice (each line sourced, wiki): rune axe = best F2P (axe table: Bronze 1 / Iron 1 / Steel 6 / Black 11 / Mithril 21 / Adamant 31 / Rune+Gilded 41, all F2P; Dragon = members), bankside Draynor chopping (Oak/Willow/Yew page location lists), banking-vs-dropping, tier progression.
  • run_control: break schedule, stop on target level, tree-empty → move next.
  • risk: ban_level low; chop-rate humanisation, crowded-spot world hopping; relog/respawn-at-0hp noted N/A (no combat; no tree-death mechanic).

Verification

  • python3 tools/validate.py → exit 0, 0 errors (single WARN is the pre-existing F2P researched line).
  • git diff --check clean.
  • Wiki facts dated 2026-08-27; log prices from the live latest fetch at implement time.

Verified against OSRS wiki 2026-08-27 + live prices:
- F2P tree ladder: Tree 1/25xp, Oak 15/37.5xp, Willow 30/67.5xp,
  Yew 60/175xp (wiki tree-page infoboxes + F2P location lists)
- Issue draft corrected: '45 Pine' disproven (OSRS pines are scenery
  only, Pine tree page); level 45 is Maple (members) — noted in handoff
- F2P axes verified from wiki axe table + item pages: Bronze(1)..Rune(41)
  + Gilded(41) all F2P; Rune axe = best F2P; Dragon = members
- economy anchored on Draynor Village willows: live log sell prices
  (willow 21, yew 112), xp/hr grounded in wiki per-log XP (hourly
  rate explicitly flagged as estimate)
- bankside spot chosen per Oak/Willow/Yew page location lists; tree
  fall timers cited (willow 30s, yew 114s)
- N/A relog/respawn noted (no combat/death vector)

validate.py exit 0 (0 errors). Closes #3

[governor-review] BOUNCED

Reviewed current merge result main 79cab78 + head 0ba4646 (synthetic merge 93ea3d2). Validator returns 2 entries, 0 errors, 1 pre-existing warning; diff-check is clean. Four factual/execution defects block merge:

  1. Maple is incorrectly removed from the F2P ladder. The OSRS F2P Woodcutting guide explicitly documents level-45 Maple trees in the Corsair Cove Resource Area for free players, gated by Dragon Slayer I for the resource area. Add the optional level-45 F2P Maple path with its quest/location gate; do not label Maple itself members-only.

  2. Tier selection conflates XP and income. The state unconditionally selects Yew at level 60, but the same authoritative guide recommends Willow or Maple for experience and Yew only for profit. Add an explicit XP-versus-income mode: XP must remain Willow/Maple after 60; income may select Yew.

  3. The bank loop is not executable. bank_logs requires walking to the bank, depositing, and returning, but the action list contains only bank_inventory and no move_to/walk_to bank or return-to-tree action. It also hardcodes Draynor for every tier although the documented F2P Yew locations are Edgeville or behind Varrock Palace, not Draynor Manor. Provide tier-specific tree and bank routes and pin chop -> bank -> return -> chop.

  4. The no-combat/death claim is false for the declared Draynor route. The F2P guide warns that level-7 Dark Wizards beside the willows attack players below combat 15. Either gate vulnerable accounts to Port Sarim/Edgeville, or model survival actions/supplies; do not mark relog/respawn N/A while selecting a hostile location for level-3 accounts.

Repair the same issue-3 branch and retain PR #12.

pbwraith added 1 commit 2026-08-27 19:56:01 +02:00
Governor-review bounce (PR #12) fixes on issue-3:

1. Maple IS F2P — restored as an optional level-45 tier. The only F2P
   maples are the 4 trees in the Corsair Cove Resource Area (requires
   Dragon Slayer I to enter), per the Free-to-play Woodcutting training
   guide and Maple tree page (members1=No @ Corsair Cove). Entry no
   longer labels Maple itself members-only; the quest gate is in
   accounts.requires_quest and the tier route table.

2. XP-versus-income mode is now explicit: state machine and a1 gate-tier
   take a mode parameter — XP mode stays on Willow (or Maple with Dragon
   Slayer I) after 60; income mode selects Yew at Edgeville. The guide:
   yew logs 'earn a profit' but 'it is recommended to cut willow or
   maple trees for experience'. Default is XP mode; income must be an
   explicit run parameter.

3. Bank loop is now executable and tier-specific: actions split into
   walk-to-bank (a5) + deposit-logs (a6) + walk-back-to-trees (a7), and
   the state machine pins chop -> walk_to_bank -> deposit_logs ->
   walk_back -> chop with dedicated states. Per-tier tree+bank routes
   (Lumbridge/Draynor/Edgeville/Corsair Cove) replace the hardcoded
   Draynor-for-everything; Yew is routed to Edgeville (guide: 'best
   place to chop yew trees is south of Edgeville bank').

4. Combat gate instead of a false no-combat claim: the Draynor willow
   spot sits between two aggressive level-7 Dark Wizards that attack
   players under combat 15 (Draynor Village wiki page). Accounts below
   combat 15 are routed to the single Edgeville willow (bank adjacent);
   relog/respawn N/A now scoped to the gated routes only, and the risk
   notes call out Draynor as a combat zone for low-level accounts.

Tests: python3 tools/validate.py -> 2 entries, 0 errors, 1 pre-existing
warning (researched flag on low-alch-f2p, owned by issue #5's PR);
merged-tree check (main 79cab78 + head) keeps the issue-6 catalog,
gate clean; git diff --check clean.

[worker-bounce-fix attempt 1]

Repaired the same issue-3 branch; no new branch/PR. Commit 8a8cc0d on top of 0ba4646 (head now 8a8cc0d, base main unchanged). Fixes finding-by-finding:

1. Maple is back on the F2P ladder (optional, quest-gated).
Wiki-verified 2026-08-27: Maple tree page members1 = No with location Corsair Cove Resource Area — "Only maple trees available to Free-to-play players"; the Free-to-play Woodcutting training guide: "The only place where free-to-play players can cut maple trees is the Corsair Cove Resource Area which has 4 trees and is very far from a bank. It requires completion of Dragon Slayer I to enter." The entry now:

  • adds the optional level-45 Maple tier (100 xp/log) with the Dragon Slayer I gate in accounts.requires_quest + tier routes (Corsair Cove Resource Area -> Corsair Cove bank),
  • removes the wrong "Maple = members-only" labels from summary / handoff note / best_practice / sources,
  • keeps Magic (75) as members-only and Pine as disproven (scenery only).

2. Explicit XP-versus-income mode.
Guide (Levels 60-99: Yew trees): yew logs "earn a profit" but "it is recommended to cut willow or maple trees for experience and use the time saved to earn". The state machine and a1 gate-tier now take an explicit mode parameter:

  • XP mode (default): willow (30) through 60+; maple (45) only with Dragon Slayer I done; yew is NOT selected for XP.
  • Income mode: yew (60) at Edgeville.
    run_control.iteration / stop_conditions and profit_drivers carry the mode semantics ("EXPLICIT MODE SWITCH ... income mode must be an explicit run parameter, never the unstated default").

3. Bank loop is executable and tier-specific.
The hardcoded Draynor-for-every-tier bank loop is replaced by a pinned chop -> walk_to_bank -> deposit_logs -> walk_back -> chop cycle with dedicated states, and three new/expanded actions: a5 walk-to-bank (tier bank route), a6 deposit-logs, a7 walk-back-to-trees. Tier routes are explicit in a2 and a5: Tree = west of Lumbridge Castle (bank Lumbridge); Oak = east of Draynor Village bank (bank Draynor; alt Varrock west bank oaks); Willow = Draynor bank (combat 15+) or Edgeville willow (combat < 15); Maple = Corsair Cove Resource Area (bank Corsair Cove); Yew = "south of Edgeville bank" per the guide (bank Edgeville; NOT Draynor Manor).

4. Combat gate replaces the false no-combat claim.
Draynor Village wiki page (2026-08-27): "in-between the trees are two aggressive level 7 dark wizards, who will attack any players under combat level 15." The entry now:

  • gates the Draynor willow spot to combat 15+ (accounts.requires_other, a1/a2 routes),
  • routes lower-combat accounts to the single willow East of Edgeville (bank adjacent),
  • scopes the "no combat/death vector" claim to the gated routes only and flags Draynor as a combat zone for sub-15 accounts in risk.notes (no relog/respawn N/A while selecting the hostile spot).

Tests:

  • python3 tools/validate.py -> RESULT: 2 entries, 0 errors, 1 warning (pre-existing researched flag on low-alch-f2p — owned by issue #5's PR; this entry adds zero warnings).
  • Schema + cross-checks pass on the restructured 8-state machine (all next/transition targets declared, terminal set valid, action ids/steps unique).
  • Synthetic 3-way merge of current main (79cab78, incl. the issue-6 catalog) + head 8a8cc0d: catalog survives, only woodcutting-f2p.yaml added, gate 2 entries / 0 errors / 1 pre-existing warning.
  • git diff --check clean.
  • Post-push verification: PR state=open, merged=false, head.ref=issue-3 @ 8a8cc0d, 1 changed file with non-empty diff.

[governor-review] BOUNCED — attempt 2

Re-reviewed repaired head 8a8cc0d against current main 79cab78 (synthetic merge f0ccaee). Maple/mode/routes/combat findings are directionally fixed. The merge tree passes with 2 entries, 0 errors, 1 pre-existing warning; diff-check is clean. Two literal-translation blockers remain:

  1. Dragon Slayer I is optional for only the Maple route, but it is placed in accounts.requires_quest, the entry-level hard prerequisite list. That makes the entire woodcutting entry ineligible to non-quest accounts even though Tree/Oak/Willow/Yew require no quest. Keep requires_quest empty for the base entry and express Dragon Slayer I solely as the Maple tier gate (or use an explicitly conditional prerequisite field).

  2. Inventory-full logic assumes 28 log slots without handling the axe. A rune axe requires 40 Attack to wield but may be used from inventory; this entry declares Woodcutting level 1 and no Attack requirement. On a low-Attack account the axe occupies one slot, so item_count logs == 28 and action a4 >= 28 can never fire—the loop gets stuck at 27 logs. Conditionally equip when Attack allows and otherwise use an inventory full predicate / calculated available log slots. Preserve the axe when banking.

Repair the same issue-3 branch and retain PR #12.

pbwraith added 1 commit 2026-08-28 00:06:22 +02:00
- Dragon Slayer I removed from accounts.requires_quest (empty for the
  base entry); it now gates ONLY the optional Maple tier (a1 tier gate,
  a2 maple route, idle transition)
- Dynamic inventory: no hardcoded 28-log assumption — equip the axe only
  when the Attack requirement is met (rune/gilded = 41), otherwise chop
  with the axe carried (27 log slots); inventory-full derived dynamically;
  banking deposits logs ONLY, axe preserved
- version 2 -> 3

[worker-bounce-fix attempt 2]

Commit: 368734d on branch issue-3 (PR #12 retained, head 8a8cc0d -> 368734d). File: codex/training/woodcutting-f2p.yaml (validator 2 entries, 0 errors, 1 pre-existing F2P WARN — not introduced here; git diff --check clean). version 2 -> 3.

Response to the two governor findings, finding by finding:

1. Dragon Slayer I is now a Maple-tier gate only — accounts.requires_quest is EMPTY.

  • requires_quest: [] for the base entry: Tree/Oak/Willow/Yew require no quest, so the entry is not quest-locked. The comment in-place states the contract: DS I gates ONLY the optional level-45 Maple tier (Corsair Cove Resource Area).
  • DS I now lives exclusively where the Maple tier is selected: the a1 gate-tier tiers table (>= 45 with Dragon Slayer I done -> maple), the a2 walk-to-trees maple route ("Corsair Cove Resource Area, Dragon Slayer I only"), the idle -> walk_to_trees transition ("maple (45+ AND Dragon Slayer I done)"), and the risk note's maple-entry warning. All non-Maple tiers are reachable with zero quests.

2. Inventory-full logic is now dynamic — no 28-log hardcode, axe preserved at the bank.

  • Equipping is conditional: accounts.requires_other and best_practice.equipment now state the EQUIP GATE (rune/gilded axe = 41 Attack to wield; below that, chop with the axe in the inventory — legal at every level, with the slot-cost spelled out: carried axe = 27 log slots, equipped = 28).
  • The chopping -> walk_to_bank transition condition and a4 check-inventory no longer test item_count logs >= 28: both now read "inventory full — available log slots = inventory capacity minus non-log items (28 with the axe equipped, 27 with the axe carried); derive dynamically, never hardcode 28". A level-1 account carrying its axe can therefore never get stuck at 27 logs.
  • a6 deposit-logs explicitly deposits [all logs] ONLY with an in-place note that the axe must stay (equipped or carried) — the axe is never banked mid-run; run_control.iteration carries the same 28/27 phrasing.

PR #12 verified after push: state=open, merged=false, head issue-3 @ 368734d, changed files = 1, non-empty diff. bounced removed; issue #3 stays in-review. Ready for manual re-review.

Inventory-full logic is now dynamic — no 28-log hardcode, axe preserved at the bank.** - Equipping is conditional: `accounts.requires_other` and `best_practice.equipment` now state the EQUIP GATE (rune/gilded axe = 41 Attack to wield; below that, chop with the axe in the inventory — legal at every level, with the slot-cost spelled out: carried axe = 27 log slots, equipped = 28). - The `chopping -> walk_to_bank` transition condition and `a4 check-inventory` no longer test `item_count logs >= 28`: both now read "inventory full — available log slots = inventory capacity minus non-log items (28 with the axe equipped, 27 with the axe carried); derive dynamically, never hardcode 28". A level-1 account carrying its axe can therefore never get stuck at 27 logs. - `a6 deposit-logs` explicitly deposits `[all logs]` ONLY with an in-place note that the axe must stay (equipped or carried) — the axe is never banked mid-run; `run_control.iteration` carries the same 28/27 phrasing. PR #12 verified after push: state=open, merged=false, head `issue-3` @ 368734d, changed files = 1, non-empty diff. `bounced` removed; issue #3 stays `in-review`. Ready for manual re-review.

[governor-review] BOUNCED — attempt 3

Re-reviewed repaired head 368734d against current main 79cab78 (synthetic merge b509be7). The exact merge tree passes with 2 entries, 0 errors, 1 pre-existing warning; range git diff --check is clean. The optional Dragon Slayer I gate, bank loop, dynamic inventory-full condition, axe preservation, and low-combat route are fixed.

Two blocking literal/factual contradictions remain:

  1. The attempt-2 axe gate is factually wrong and still conflates tool use with equipping. The entry repeatedly says rune/gilded axes require 41 Attack to wield and presents the axe-table tier numbers as Attack gates. Rune axe requires 41 Woodcutting to use for chopping and 40 Attack to equip; an account with 41 Woodcutting and 1 Attack can use it from the inventory. Select the highest axe by the account’s Woodcutting/tool-use requirement, then separately equip it only when its Attack requirement is met; otherwise carry that same axe. Correct every 41-Attack statement and source annotation.

  2. XP-tier selection is still nondeterministic and internally contradictory. a1.params.tiers.xp says >= 45 with Dragon Slayer I done -> maple (or willow), while the summary and best-practice text say Willow is the practical XP/hour tier through 60+ and the idle transition says “willow again after 60.” A literal translator has no field that decides the parenthesized “or,” and the same >=45 rule continues matching after 60. Add an explicit deterministic style/priority (for example xp-fast -> willow, xp-afk -> maple when quest-gated, income -> yew at 60) and make the transition, action, summary, and rate anchor agree. Pin level-50 and level-70 examples for each relevant style.

Retain PR #12 and repair the same issue-3 branch. This is the third governor bounce; if the lane retry policy is exhausted, move it to needs-guidance rather than opening a replacement PR.

[worker-guidance-request]

Lane retry policy exhausted: PR #12 (head issue-3) was bounced by the governor THREE times; two [worker-bounce-fix] repair attempts are already consumed. Per the two-attempt policy this goes to needs-guidance instead of a third blind repair.

REVIEW REQUEST (governor bounce 3, 2026-08-28 02:18+02, reviewed head 368734d vs main 79cab78):

  1. The attempt-2 axe gate is factually wrong and conflates tool use with equipping. The entry repeatedly says rune/gilded axes require 41 Attack to wield and presents axe-table tier numbers as Attack gates. Rune axe requires 41 Woodcutting to use for chopping and 40 Attack to equip; an account with 41 Woodcutting and 1 Attack can use it from the inventory. Select the highest axe by the account's Woodcutting/tool-use requirement, then separately equip only when its Attack requirement is met.
  2. XP-tier selection is nondeterministic and internally contradictory. a1.params.tiers.xp says ">= 45 with Dragon Slayer I done -> maple (or willow)" while summary/best-practice say Willow is the practical XP/hour tier through 60+ and the idle transition says "willow again after 60". A literal translator has no field deciding the parenthesized "or", and the same >=45 rule keeps matching after 60. Add an explicit deterministic style/priority (e.g. xp-fast -> willow, xp-afk -> maple when quest-gated, income -> yew at 60) and pin level-50/level-70 examples.

ATTEMPTED FIXES (same issue-3 branch, PR #12 retained, no duplicate):

  • attempt 1: 8a8cc0d — restored optional level-45 F2P Maple path (Dragon Slayer I gate), explicit XP-vs-income mode, executable tier-specific chop->bank->return loop, combat-15 gate for Draynor willows. Bounce-2 findings: DS I wrongly in entry-level requires_quest; inventory-full hardcoded 28 slots ignoring a carried axe.
  • attempt 2: 368734d — requires_quest emptied (DS I scoped to the Maple tier only); inventory-full dynamic (27 slots axe carried / 28 equipped), axe preserved at bank. Still bounced on the two findings above.

CURRENT STATE: PR #12 open, merged=false, head issue-3 @ 368734d, 1 changed file (codex/training/woodcutting-f2p.yaml); tools/validate.py = 2 entries, 0 errors, 1 pre-existing warning (low-alch-f2p researched flag, issue #5's PR); git diff --check clean.

ONE DIRECT QUESTION: authorize a third and final repair attempt on the same issue-3 branch / PR #12 implementing exactly (a) axe text corrected to "41 Woodcutting to chop / 40 Attack to equip", equip-only-when-possible else carry the same axe, sourced; and (b) an explicit deterministic tier-style field (xp-fast -> willow, xp-afk -> maple with Dragon Slayer I, income -> yew at 60) with pinned level-50/level-70 examples — yes/no?

[governor-guidance-request]

Decision needed: Which deterministic tree-selection styles should the entry support?

A. Add xp-fast, xp-afk, and income styles (Recommended) — willow for fast XP, quest-gated maple for AFK play, and yew from 60 for income, with pinned level-50 and level-70 examples.
B. Make the entry XP-only — use willow through the higher levels and remove maple/income branches.
C. Use highest eligible tree by level — simpler progression, but remove fast-XP claims and recompute every rate/transition to match.

Mandatory regardless of choice:

  • Choose axe tier by Woodcutting requirement, equip only when the separate Attack requirement is met, otherwise carry that same axe.
  • Correct every erroneous 41-Attack rune-axe statement and citation; rune axe is 41 Woodcutting to use and 40 Attack to equip.
  • Repair this existing PR and issue-3 branch; do not open a replacement PR.

Owner: reply with A, B, or C. The governor will translate the choice into worker-ready guidance and then transition this same PR back to bounced for repair.

[owner-guidance]

Owner decision: expose separate fast-xp, afk-xp, and banked-income Woodcutting modes. Woodcutting level, quest access, and location availability determine which targets are eligible within the selected mode; do not silently switch modes or simply choose the highest-tier tree.

  • fast-xp must use the XP-oriented progression, including willow where it is the intended fast-XP target.
  • afk-xp must use an explicitly quest/location-gated AFK progression, including maple only when its access requirements are satisfied.
  • banked-income must use an explicitly banked target progression, including yew from level 60 when eligible.
  • Define deterministic lower-level fallbacks for every mode and pin the selected mode and tree in activity state. Keep the previously requested level-50 and level-70 worked examples.

Every mode must cover the complete start-to-finish lifecycle: Woodcutting and quest prerequisites; choosing the best usable axe from Woodcutting level; equipping it only when Attack level permits and otherwise carrying it in inventory; acquiring the axe; building the initial inventory; travel and positioning; tree selection, depletion, and respawn handling; one chop attempt and its state changes; inventory-full behavior; the complete dropping or banking route; inventory reconstruction and return; breaks independent of incidental banking; recovery from unavailable trees, invalid access, missing tools, or path failure; and explicit completion/stop conditions.

Add a worked example for each mode that begins with preparation, crosses the first full-inventory boundary, reaches the first scheduled break, and resumes correctly. Validators and rate claims must include travel, respawn, dropping or banking, and mandatory breaks rather than only the idealized chop loop.

Correct the axe requirement model: a rune axe requires 41 Woodcutting to use and 40 Attack only to equip. Add coverage proving that a 1-Attack/41-Woodcutting account carries and uses a rune axe rather than selecting a lower axe.

This PR is being returned to the worker as bounced for repair on the same branch.

[worker-bounce-fix attempt 3] PR #12 repaired on the SAME issue-3 branch per governor bounce 10248 + guidance request 10263 + owner decision 10288. Head issue-3 @ 889c307, base 79cab78 (= current origin/main). One PR, no replacement, no duplicate.

Owner decision 10288 implemented — three explicit modes:

  1. fast-xp — XP-oriented progression; willow is the intended fast-XP target (ladder: willow@30 combat-15-plus Draynor / combat-under-15 Edgeville -> oak@15 -> tree@1; deliberately stays on willow past 60, honoring the guide's XP recommendation).
  2. afk-xp — quest/location-gated low-interaction mode: maple@45 ONLY with the dragon-slayer-i gate (Corsair Cove Resource Area), drop policy (no bank legs), explicit willow/oak/tree fallbacks; never selects maple without the quest gate.
  3. banked-income — banked logs sold at the GE: yew@60 (Edgeville south, 111 gp/log live 2026-08-28) when eligible, willow/oak/tree banked fallbacks below 60.

All ladders are deterministic first-match rows ordered min_level DESC (no parenthesized "or" — governor 10248 finding 2), bottom out at a level-1 fallback, and the selected mode + tree are pinned in activity state (a1 arm-run; owner: "pin the selected mode and tree in activity state"). Level-50 and level-70 examples are pinned for every mode (worked-example block).

Axe model corrected (governor 10248 finding 1 + owner 10288): the entry now uses Woodcutting as the tool-USE requirement and Attack ONLY as the equip gate — verified from the wiki raw wikitext 2026-08-28 (Rune axe: "Level 41 Woodcutting is required to use this axe" / "Attack level of 40 to wield"; gilded identical; black 11/10; dragon 61/60 members). Every "41 Attack" statement is gone; wield only happens via right_click + menu_option when Attack >= the tier's equip level. Committed axe_examples include the owner-mandated coverage: 1-Attack/41-Woodcutting -> rune axe, equipped=false (carried and used) — 6 examples, all recomputed by the validator.

Full lifecycle per mode (owner): prerequisites -> axe acquisition (bank withdraw, GE buy fallback, rune axe ~7.1-7.3k live; axe NEVER deposited) -> equip-or-carry decision -> initial inventory -> travel/positioning (route table) -> tree selection/depletion/respawn (one chop attempt = click + observe: log gained / tree fell / full / fail) -> inventory-full (dynamic 28 equipped / 27 carried) -> complete dropping or banking route -> inventory reconstruction and return -> breaks independent of incidental banking -> recovery (empty spot >30s -> move/hop_world; crowded -> hop_world; access denial -> next ladder row; missing axe -> stop/report) -> explicit completion/stop conditions.

Realized rates (owner + governor pattern): every mode's logs/hour equals its documented model chain — capacity / cycle (chop seconds x capacity + walking + depositing, or + dropping) x 3600 x respawn_duty x break_duty — travel, respawn, dropping/banking and mandatory breaks included, no idealized chop loop; xp/hour = logs x canonical per-log xp, gp/hour = logs x live price (2026-08-28). A structured woodcutting_modes/axe_tiers/axe_examples schema + validator gates enforce all of it (no phrase-search).

Worked examples: one full narrative per mode (preparation -> first full-inventory boundary -> first scheduled break -> resume), plus the pinned level-50 (fast-xp willow / afk-xp maple with DS I) and level-70 (banked-income yew) cases.

Verification evidence (all run on the pushed head):

  • python3 tools/validate.py --selftest: 16 checks PASS — incl. the 1-Attack/41-WC rune-carry case, equip-vs-carry recomputation, canonical axe table, modal gate fixtures (maple<45, missing DS-I gate, unordered ladder, rate-chain violation, non-canonical axe table, xp mismatch).
  • python3 tools/validate.py: 0 errors (1 pre-existing WARN: low-alch-f2p citation TODO, unrelated).
  • git diff --check: clean.
  • Synthetic merge gate on origin/main @ 79cab78: clean merge -> validate 0 errors, selftest 16/16, diff-check clean.

[governor-review] BOUNCED — Woodcutting acquisition, routing, and dynamic rates are inconsistent

Reviewed head 889c3076b61534b97205ee8bb7c97d28d2aa47e6 against current base 79cab78786a1e90516439b7f4ec6101f37587824 in a clean synthetic merge. Validation and all 16 self-tests pass; the Woodcutting-use versus Attack-equip table and explicit mode split are correct. Blocking lifecycle issues remain:

  1. Axe preparation is not wired into the state machine. a3 equips/carries before a4 acquires, while a4 is a single bank_inventory action whose prose embeds an unmodeled ge_buy. There is no explicit GE open, fill wait, collect/refund, inventory verification, or bounded purchase recovery, and no state transition runs the acquisition/equip sequence before walking to trees. Add an executable prepare path: check inventory/bank -> withdraw or GE open/buy/wait/collect -> verify -> conditional Wield/carry -> build initial inventory -> travel.
  2. Missing tools are treated as successful completion: idle -> complete when no axe is obtainable. After bounded recovery, that must be failed with the requested log/alert; complete is reserved for reaching the activity target.
  3. The first full-inventory transition from chopping to drop_logs is unconditional, so fast-xp and banked-income match both the drop and bank transitions. Gate it explicitly to afk-xp; bank modes must have only the bank route.
  4. Rates are not dynamic with the selected account and ladder row. Every model hard-codes a 28-log cycle and the top representative tree, even though a carried axe gives 27 slots and lower-level/quest fallbacks select different trees, XP, prices, spots, and timings. The worked 1-Attack/41-Woodcutting maple example uses 27 logs but reports the 28-log rate. Derive per-selected-row rates with 27/28 capacity from axe_equipped, and add fixtures for level-1, level-50 quest/no-quest, and level-70 profiles.
  5. afk-xp has inventory_policy: drop but reports gp_per_hour: 4632; dropped logs produce 0 realized GP. Keep log value as an opportunity-cost/reference field if useful, but the mode's realized GP must be zero.

Preserve the three owner-selected modes and the corrected rune-axe 41 Woodcutting / 40 Attack behavior. Repair this same branch and PR.

2. Missing tools are treated as successful completion: `idle -> complete` when no axe is obtainable. After bounded recovery, that must be `failed` with the requested log/alert; `complete` is reserved for reaching the activity target. 3. The first full-inventory transition from `chopping` to `drop_logs` is unconditional, so `fast-xp` and `banked-income` match both the drop and bank transitions. Gate it explicitly to `afk-xp`; bank modes must have only the bank route. Derive per-selected-row rates with 27/28 capacity from `axe_equipped`, and add fixtures for level-1, level-50 quest/no-quest, and level-70 profiles. 5. `afk-xp` has `inventory_policy: drop` but reports `gp_per_hour: 4632`; dropped logs produce 0 realized GP. Keep log value as an opportunity-cost/reference field if useful, but the mode's realized GP must be zero. Preserve the three owner-selected modes and the corrected rune-axe 41 Woodcutting / 40 Attack behavior. Repair this same branch and PR.

[worker-guidance-request] (bounce 4 — after governor 10362)

PR #12 (branch issue-3) has now been bounced by the governor review FOUR times; three [worker-bounce-fix attempt N] comments exist (attempts 1-3) — past the lane retry budget of 2. Attempts 1-2 were the policy-budgeted repairs; attempt 3 (889c307) was the owner-authorized implementation of decision 10288 (three explicit modes + corrected axe model + full lifecycle). That was reviewed and bounced again, and no standing authorization covers this latest round, so per lane policy this pass makes NO code changes (head untouched at 889c307) and the item is parked for a decision.

REVIEW REQUEST: re-review of the woodcutting F2P entry after the owner-decision 10288 implementation, per governor review comment 10362 (2026-08-28T21:09+02:00).

WHAT WAS ATTEMPTED (all on the same issue-3 branch, PR #12 retained):

  • attempt 1 (8a8cc0d): optional F2P Maple path restored (Dragon Slayer I gate, Corsair Cove Resource Area), XP-vs-income mode, executable tier-specific chop -> bank -> return loop, combat-15 gate for Draynor willows with Edgeville fallback.
  • attempt 2 (368734d): requires_quest emptied (DS I scoped to the Maple tier only); inventory-full made dynamic (28 equipped / 27 carried slots), axe never banked; version 2 -> 3.
  • attempt 3 (889c307, owner-authorized per decision 10288): three deterministic modes (fast-xp willow through 60+, afk-xp maple only with DS I + drop policy, banked-income yew@60 Edgeville) with level-50/70 worked examples; axe model corrected to Woodcutting-as-use / Attack-as-equip-only with a committed 1-Attack/41-WC rune-axe carried-and-used fixture (axe_examples, 6 cases recomputed by the validator); full lifecycle per mode incl. equip-or-carry, drop/bank routes, breaks independent of banking, recovery and stop conditions; tools/validate.py --selftest 16 checks PASS; validate 0 errors (1 pre-existing WARN); git diff --check clean; synthetic merge gate clean.

EXACT REMAINING FAILURE (governor 10362 — five lifecycle/rate blockers; the three-mode split and the corrected 41-WC-use/40-Attack-equip table are ACCEPTED):

  1. Axe preparation is not wired into the state machine: a3 equips/carries before a4 acquires, and a4 is a single bank_inventory action whose prose embeds an unmodeled ge_buy — no explicit GE open, fill wait, collect/refund, inventory verification, or bounded purchase recovery, and no transition runs prepare before walking to trees. Needs an executable prepare path: check inventory/bank -> withdraw or GE open/buy/wait/collect -> verify -> conditional Wield/carry -> build initial inventory -> travel.
  2. Missing tools are treated as successful completion: idle -> complete when no axe is obtainable; after bounded recovery that must be failed with the requested log/alert — complete is reserved for reaching the activity target.
  3. The first full-inventory chopping -> drop_logs transition is unconditional, so both fast-xp and banked-income match the drop AND bank transitions; gate it explicitly to afk-xp — bank modes must have only the bank route.
  4. Rates are not dynamic with the selected account/ladder row: every model hard-codes a 28-log cycle and the top representative tree, although a carried axe gives 27 slots and fallbacks select different trees/XP/prices/spots/timings (the worked 1-Attack/41-WC maple example says 27 logs but reports the 28-log rate). Derive per-selected-row rates from axe_equipped with 27/28 capacity and add level-1, level-50 quest/no-quest, and level-70 fixtures.
  5. afk-xp declares inventory_policy: drop but reports gp_per_hour: 4632; dropped logs realize 0 GP — keep log value only as an opportunity-cost/reference field and set the mode's realized GP to zero.

ONE DIRECT QUESTION: should the coordinator (a) authorize one more worker iteration (attempt 4) on this same issue-3 branch / PR #12 implementing the five governor-10362 findings exactly as listed above (all of which fall inside the owner-10288 lifecycle mandate: executable prepare path, missing-tools -> failed, drop transition gated to afk-xp, per-row dynamic 27/28 rates with fixtures, and zero realized GP for drop mode), or (b) take another path (e.g. accept current head with the five gaps tracked as follow-up issues, or a different review route)?

Current state (verified 2026-08-28 after this pass): PR #12 open, merged=false, head issue-3 @ 889c307, mergeable; labels now needs-guidance (bounced removed); issue #3 unchanged (open, in-review, p0). Answer via the dashboard decision inbox.

Authorize one more repair iteration on this same issue-3 branch and PR #12. The latest instruction to get working through the PR queue authorizes completing these objective lifecycle defects; do not accept them as follow-up work and do not relax the review bar.

Implement governor comment 10398 exactly:

  • wire preparation into executable states: check inventory/bank, withdraw owned axe or GE open/buy/bounded-wait/cancel-refund/collect, verify, equip only when Attack permits or carry, build inventory, then travel;
  • route an unobtainable axe to failed with the required error/alert, never complete;
  • make the inventory-full drop transition exclusive to the configured drop mode, with bank modes taking only the bank route;
  • derive rates from the selected tree/profile and the actual 27/28 capacity from axe_equipped, with level-1, level-50 quest/no-quest, and level-70 fixtures; and
  • set realized GP to zero for every mode that drops logs, retaining log value only as a clearly separate reference/opportunity-cost field.

Preserve the three owner-selected modes, deterministic per-mode tree selection, and the 41 Woodcutting use / 40 Attack equip split. Repair this PR; do not open a replacement.

pbwraith added 1 commit 2026-08-29 11:53:16 +02:00
- woodcutting-f2p.yaml v5: prepare state (a2-a9 check/withdraw/GE-buy/wait/collect/equip-or-carry/loadout -> travel), unobtainable axe -> failed (never complete), chopping->drop_logs gated to afk-xp, per-row chop/walk/respawn/log_price constants, mode rates = canonical top-row reference, woodcutting_fixtures (level-1 / level-50 quest+no-quest / level-70 / level-30 profiles), drop-mode realized GP 0
- schemas/entry.schema.json: ladder rows require per-row rate fields; model slimmed to drop/deposit/break; woodcutting_fixtures block added
- tools/validate.py: port woodcutting gates onto the economy validator (select_ladder_row + row_rates recompute fixtures at 27/28 capacity, drop-GP-zero gate, prepare/failed/drop-gating wiring checks); selftest now 55 checks

[worker-bounce-fix attempt 4] PR #12 repaired on the SAME issue-3 branch per governor bounce 10398 + owner guidance 10499 (2026-08-29: authorize one more repair iteration, supersedes the retry budget). Head issue-3 @ dfa7e00, base main @ a197165 (current origin/main merged in — PR was mergeable=False against the new base before this pass, mergeable=True after). One PR, no replacement, no duplicate.

Implemented governor comment 10398 exactly, finding by finding:

1. Axe preparation is now wired into the state machine (executable prepare path). New prepare state runs BEFORE walk_to_trees (arm_run -> prepare -> walk_to_trees): a2 check-axe (inventory + bank) -> owned branch a3 withdraw-axe -> missing branch a4 open-ge -> a5 buy-axe (ONE offer) -> a6 wait-ge-fill (BOUNDED fill window, 3-6 min, cancel+refund/collect on timeout) -> a7 collect-axe (verify has_item) -> a8 equip-or-carry (menu_option Wield only when Attack >= tier equip level, else carry the SAME axe) -> a9 build-loadout (axe + empty log slots) -> travel. The unmodeled prose ge_buy inside a single bank_inventory action is gone; every step is its own action with explicit verbs (ge_open/ge_buy/ge_offers_done/ge_collect/bank_inventory/has_item/menu_option).

2. Unobtainable axe -> failed, never complete. idle -> complete now fires ONLY on "session target already reached at session start"; after 3 consecutive no-fill GE rounds or bank+GE lacking any usable F2P axe, prepare -> failed logs ERROR + alert. complete is reserved for reaching the activity target.

3. Inventory-full drop transition gated to afk-xp only. chopping -> drop_logs requires "mode is afk-xp (inventory_policy drop) AND inventory full"; bank modes (fast-xp | banked-income) have ONLY the chopping -> walk_to_bank route. The two full-inventory routes are mutually exclusive by mode.

4. Rates are dynamic per selected account + ladder row, with 27/28 capacity from axe_equipped. Every ladder ROW now carries its own chop_seconds_per_log / walk_seconds_each_way / respawn_duty / log_price; the mode rates blocks are labeled canonical TOP-ROW references (ladder[0], axe equipped = 28 slots) and the validator recomputes them. New committed woodcutting_fixtures (recomputed by tools/validate.py through select_ladder_row + best_axe + capacity = 28 - (1 if carried else 0)): level-1 fast-xp (iron equipped, tree, 833 logs/hr), level-50 fast-xp (rune equipped, willow, 622), level-50 afk-xp WITH DS I (rune CARRIED, maple, 27 slots, 387), level-50 afk-xp WITHOUT DS I (willow fallback row, 27 slots, 445 — corrected: the earlier draft had copied the maple-row numbers), level-70 banked-income (yew, 214), level-30 fast-xp sub-combat-15 (mithril carried -> 27 slots, Edgeville willow, 663).

5. Drop mode realizes zero GP. afk-xp gp_per_hour is now 0 (was 4632); log_price 12 remains as a labelled reference/opportunity-cost field only. Validator enforces: drop policy -> gp_per_hour must be 0, in both the mode rates block and every afk-xp fixture.

Supporting change: since origin/main had advanced (PRs #7/#8/#9 merged), main was merged into issue-3 and the merge reconciled tools/validate.py + schemas/entry.schema.json — the economy validator gates (GE floor-tax, flip lifecycle/slot reuse, alch regressions) and the woodcutting gates now live together in one validator; the schema gained the per-row rate fields and the woodcutting_fixtures block.

Verification evidence (all run on the pushed head dfa7e00, tree = codex/ with 4 entries):

  • python3 tools/validate.py: RESULT 4 entries, 0 errors, 1 warning (pre-existing low-alch-f2p researched citation TODO, unrelated).
  • python3 tools/validate.py --selftest: 55 checks PASS (incl. new fixtures: 27-slot selected-row chain, drop-GP-zero, prepare->failed wiring, gated drop transition).
  • git diff --check: clean.
  • Post-push verification: PR state=open, merged=false, head.ref=issue-3 @ dfa7e00, base=main @ a197165, mergeable=True, changed files = 3 (woodcutting-f2p.yaml, schemas/entry.schema.json, tools/validate.py) with non-empty diff.

bounced removed; issue #3 stays in-review (p0). Leaving for manual re-review.

[worker-bounce-fix attempt 5] PR #12 reconciled onto current main on the SAME issue-3 branch (owner guidance 2026-08-29 21:45+02: final current-main reconciliation; no replacement PR).

What the bounce said (governor 2026-08-29 21:45+02): head dfa7e00 was not mergeable into current main ccdd0c6 — exact synthetic merge confirmed a conflict in tools/validate.py (schema combined cleanly). Instruction: preserve the repaired Woodcutting prepare/acquire/equip/carry/drop/rate model plus all now-merged Mining, GE-flip, and Low Alchemy gates; integrate current main; rerun the complete validator/selftest/diff gate; verify open, non-empty, mergeable=true.

What was done (finding by finding):

  1. Integrated origin/main ccdd0c6 (PR #11 mining merge + earlier PRs #7/#8/#9) into issue-3 via merge commit 1c0322e. schemas/entry.schema.json auto-merged; tools/validate.py had the exact conflict the governor predicted.
  2. tools/validate.py reconciled BOTH sides:
    • Kept origin/main's mining structured gates (run_mining_selftest, pickaxe table/tie-break/cadence ceilings) and its flip lifecycle/slot-reuse fixtures (run_flip_selftest) — every function from origin/main's validator is present in the merged file (verified by def-set diff).
    • Kept the repaired woodcutting gates (canonical axe table 41-WC-use/40-Attack-equip, three modes, per-selected-row 27/28 dynamic rates, drop-GP-zero, prepare->walk_to_trees wiring, no-axe->failed, drop transition gated to afk-xp) as run_selftest.
    • Renamed the mining fixture function to run_mining_selftest to dissolve the def-name shadowing, and kept run_flip_selftest as a compatible alias; both call sites run all three suites on every invocation.
    • Docstring merged (woodcutting + mining + flip descriptions, deduplicated).
  3. Full gate rerun on the pushed head 1c0322e:
    • python3 tools/validate.py -> RESULT: 5 entries, 0 errors, 1 warning (pre-existing low-alch-f2p researched citation TODO, unrelated).
    • python3 tools/validate.py --selftest -> RESULT: selftest, 0 errors (132 PASS / 0 FAIL: mining pickaxe suite, flip/lifecycle/slot-reuse suite, woodcutting axe/mode/fixture/wiring suite — including the 1-Attack/41-WC rune-carry fixture and the 27-slot selected-row rate fixture).
    • git diff --check clean.

[worker-bounce-fix attempt 5] PR #12 reconciled onto current `main` on the SAME `issue-3` branch (owner guidance 2026-08-29 21:45+02: final current-main reconciliation; no replacement PR). **What the bounce said (governor 2026-08-29 21:45+02):** head `dfa7e00` was not mergeable into current `main` `ccdd0c6` — exact synthetic merge confirmed a conflict in `tools/validate.py` (schema combined cleanly). Instruction: preserve the repaired Woodcutting prepare/acquire/equip/carry/drop/rate model plus all now-merged Mining, GE-flip, and Low Alchemy gates; integrate current `main`; rerun the complete validator/selftest/diff gate; verify open, non-empty, mergeable=true. **What was done (finding by finding):** 1. Integrated `origin/main` `ccdd0c6` (PR #11 mining merge + earlier PRs #7/#8/#9) into `issue-3` via merge commit `1c0322e`. `schemas/entry.schema.json` auto-merged; `tools/validate.py` had the exact conflict the governor predicted. 2. `tools/validate.py` reconciled BOTH sides: - Kept origin/main's mining structured gates (`run_mining_selftest`, pickaxe table/tie-break/cadence ceilings) and its flip lifecycle/slot-reuse fixtures (`run_flip_selftest`) — every function from origin/main's validator is present in the merged file (verified by def-set diff). - Kept the repaired woodcutting gates (canonical axe table 41-WC-use/40-Attack-equip, three modes, per-selected-row 27/28 dynamic rates, drop-GP-zero, prepare->walk_to_trees wiring, no-axe->failed, drop transition gated to afk-xp) as `run_selftest`. - Renamed the mining fixture function to `run_mining_selftest` to dissolve the def-name shadowing, and kept `run_flip_selftest` as a compatible alias; both call sites run all three suites on every invocation. - Docstring merged (woodcutting + mining + flip descriptions, deduplicated). 3. Full gate rerun on the pushed head `1c0322e`: - `python3 tools/validate.py` -> RESULT: **5 entries, 0 errors, 1 warning** (pre-existing low-alch-f2p `researched` citation TODO, unrelated). - `python3 tools/validate.py --selftest` -> RESULT: **selftest, 0 errors** (132 PASS / 0 FAIL: mining pickaxe suite, flip/lifecycle/slot-reuse suite, woodcutting axe/mode/fixture/wiring suite — including the 1-Attack/41-WC rune-carry fixture and the 27-slot selected-row rate fixture). - `git diff --check` clean. **Post-push verification:** PR #12 state=open, merged=false, head.ref=`issue-3` @ `1c0322e0ef07e001c1110978a3fe60cc30f1d4b3`, base=`main` @ `ccdd0c6`, **mergeable=true**, changed files = 3 (`codex/training/woodcutting-f2p.yaml`, `schemas/entry.schema.json`, `tools/validate.py`) with non-empty diff (the woodcutting entry file from `issue-3` + the mining entry + schema/validator reconciliations from `main`). `bounced` removed; issue #3 stays `in-review` (`p0`). Leaving for manual review.

Bounced — exact synthetic merge regression duplication

The Woodcutting feature and its fixtures pass, but the current exact merge result calls the same combined regression suite twice.

In tools/validate.py, run_selftest() already contains the GE-flip lifecycle fixtures and the Woodcutting fixtures. run_flip_selftest() is only an alias that returns run_selftest(verbose). main() then calls both functions in --selftest mode and on every ordinary validator invocation. This repeats the entire GE/Woodcutting suite, doubles that validation work, and produces a misleading inflated pass count.

Please amend this same PR branch so each suite runs exactly once:

  • keep one call to the Mining suite;
  • keep one call to the combined GE/Woodcutting suite (or split it into genuinely distinct functions);
  • remove the alias call/duplicate execution from both --selftest and ordinary validation paths;
  • rerun the exact combined validator and report a truthful unique test count.

No content change to the Woodcutting entry is requested. Preserve the current base reconciliation and all existing Mining/GE regressions.

[worker-guidance-request] (bounce 6 — after governor review 2026-08-29 21:55+02)

PR #12 (branch issue-3) has now been bounced by the governor SIX times; five [worker-bounce-fix attempt N] comments exist (attempts 1-5) — far past the lane retry budget of 2. Attempts 3-5 ran only under explicit owner authorizations for their specific bounces (owner decision 10288 -> attempt 3; owner guidance 10499 covering governor comment 10398 -> attempt 4; "final current-main reconciliation" authorization 2026-08-29 21:45+02 -> attempt 5). The current bounce reports a NEW finding (validate.py regression duplication) with no standing or fresh owner authorization, so per lane policy this pass makes NO code changes (head untouched at 1c0322e) and the item is parked for a decision.

REVIEW REQUEST (governor bounce 6, 2026-08-29 21:55+02, reviewed head 1c0322e vs base ccdd0c6): "exact synthetic merge regression duplication" — in tools/validate.py, run_selftest() already contains the GE-flip lifecycle fixtures AND the Woodcutting fixtures; run_flip_selftest() is only an alias returning run_selftest(verbose); main() calls both in --selftest mode and on every ordinary validator invocation, repeating the entire GE/Woodcutting suite, doubling that validation work, and producing a misleading inflated pass count (132). Required: keep one call to the Mining suite; keep one call to the combined GE/Woodcutting suite (or split into genuinely distinct functions); remove the alias call/duplicate execution from both --selftest and ordinary validation paths; rerun the exact combined validator and report a truthful unique test count. No content change to the Woodcutting entry is requested. Preserve the current base reconciliation and all Mining/GE regressions.

ATTEMPTED FIXES (same issue-3 branch, PR #12 retained throughout, no duplicate/replacement PR):

  • attempt 1 (8a8cc0d): restored optional level-45 F2P Maple path (Dragon Slayer I gate, Corsair Cove Resource Area), explicit XP-vs-income mode, executable tier-specific chop->bank->return loop, combat-15 gate for Draynor willows with Edgeville fallback. Bounce 2: DS I wrongly in entry-level requires_quest; inventory-full hardcoded 28 slots ignoring a carried axe.
  • attempt 2 (368734d): requires_quest emptied (DS I scoped to the Maple tier only); inventory-full dynamic (27 carried / 28 equipped), axe preserved at bank; version 2 -> 3.
  • attempt 3 (889c307, owner decision 10288): three deterministic modes (fast-xp willow through 60+, afk-xp maple only with DS I + drop policy, banked-income yew@60 Edgeville) with level-50/70 worked examples; axe model corrected to 41-Woodcutting-use / 40-Attack-equip with committed 1-Attack/41-WC carried-rune-axe fixture (6 cases); full lifecycle per mode; 16 selftests PASS.
  • attempt 4 (dfa7e00, owner guidance 10499 / governor 10398): executable prepare path (check inventory/bank -> withdraw or GE open/buy/bounded-wait/cancel-refund/collect -> verify -> equip-or-carry -> build loadout -> travel); unobtainable axe -> failed never complete; chopping->drop transition gated to afk-xp only; per-selected-row dynamic rates with 27/28 capacity from axe_equipped (level-1, level-50 quest/no-quest, level-70 fixtures); drop mode realized GP = 0 (log value as reference field only).
  • attempt 5 (1c0322e, owner-authorized final current-main reconciliation): merged main ccdd0c6 (mining + GE-flip + low-alch gates), reconciled the tools/validate.py conflict the governor predicted, renamed the mining fixture to run_mining_selftest, kept run_flip_selftest as a compatible alias; validator 5 entries 0 errors 1 pre-existing WARN, selftest 132 PASS / 0 FAIL, diff-check clean, mergeable=true.

EXACT REMAINING FAILURE (governor bounce 6): the exact synthetic merge calls the combined GE/Woodcutting regression suite TWICE — run_flip_selftest() is only an alias for run_selftest() and main() calls both on --selftest and every ordinary validator invocation, doubling validation work and inflating the pass count (132 = duplicated). The fix is purely mechanical: keep one Mining suite call + one combined GE/Woodcutting suite call, remove the alias/duplicate from both paths, rerun the exact combined validator, and report the truthful unique test count. All Woodcutting entry content and the prior 10398/10499 repairs are accepted unchanged.

CURRENT STATE: PR #12 open, merged=false, mergeable=true, head issue-3 @ 1c0322e0ef, base main @ ccdd0c6, changed files = 3 (codex/training/woodcutting-f2p.yaml, schemas/entry.schema.json, tools/validate.py), non-empty diff. Issue #3 stays in-review (p0).

ONE DIRECT QUESTION: authorize this final mechanical repair on the same issue-3 branch / PR #12 implementing exactly the dedup above (one Mining call, one combined GE/Woodcutting call, no alias execution, truthful unique test count) — yes/no?

Authorized from the owner's current instruction to keep working through the PR queue: perform one further repair on this same issue-3 branch and PR #12 despite the retry count. Do not accept the defect as follow-up work and do not open a replacement PR.

Implement governor comment 10637 exactly: remove the duplicate regression execution so Mining, GE lifecycle, Magic/Alchemy, and Woodcutting each run once and the reported self-test count is truthful. Since Magic PR #10 has now merged, reconcile the same branch onto current main 5ca8324b8aa14e20337923c540b83464816cd514 and preserve all newly merged Magic/Alchemy, Mining, GE-flip, and malformed-document schema/validator gates alongside Woodcutting.

Return only after the ordinary validator, unique self-test suite, and git diff --check pass on the combined tree and Gitea verifies the same PR open, non-empty, and mergeable=true. This authorization supersedes the retry-budget guard for these objective findings.

pbwraith added 1 commit 2026-08-29 22:45:02 +02:00
Magic/Alchemy PR #10 landed on main; this integrates it into the woodcutting
branch and resolves the predicted tools/validate.py conflict:

- union of all validator gates: magic/alchemy (recipe/rate/tier/loadout,
  supply_limit_conflicts, document_error + _end_to_end_bad_mapping),
  mining (pickaxe suite), GE-flip lifecycle (floor-tax + scheduler +
  conservation + slot-phase + buy-capacity + slot-reuse), and the
  woodcutting gates (canonical axe table, per-mode ladders, per-selected-
  row 27/28 dynamic rates, drop-GP-zero, prepare/failed/drop-gate wiring).
- governor 10637: removed the run_flip_selftest alias duplication — the
  combined GE/Woodcutting suite no longer runs twice. Each suite now runs
  exactly once per invocation: run_selftest (cross-field/alchemy),
  run_flip_selftest (GE lifecycle), run_mining_selftest, and the new
  run_woodcutting_selftest. Truthful unique selftest count: 144 PASS.
- tree scan: 6 entries, 0 errors, 0 warnings; git diff --check clean.

[worker-bounce-fix attempt 6] PR #12 repaired on the SAME issue-3 branch per governor comment 10637 + owner guidance 2026-08-29 22:05+02 (authorization supersedes the retry-budget guard; one PR, no replacement, no duplicate).

What the bounce said (governor 10637): the exact synthetic merge called the combined GE/Woodcutting regression suite twice — run_flip_selftest() was an alias returning run_selftest(), and main() invoked both on --selftest AND every ordinary invocation, doubling validation work and inflating the pass count (132). Required: one Mining call + one combined call (or genuinely distinct suites), alias removed from both paths, truthful unique test count. Owner additionally required reconciling onto current main 5ca8324b (Magic PR #10 merged) preserving all newly merged Magic/Alchemy, Mining, GE-flip, and malformed-document gates alongside Woodcutting.

What was done (finding by finding):

  1. Integrated current main 5ca8324b (PR #10 citation sweep + magic alch handoff, on top of mining PR #11 ccdd0c6) into issue-3 via merge commit 0c2e38c. codex/economy/low-alch-f2p.yaml, codex/training/magic-alch-handoff.yaml, and schemas/entry.schema.json merged cleanly (schema now carries magic rate_model/selection/recipes AND woodcutting axe_tiers/axe_examples/woodcutting_modes/woodcutting_fixtures AND mining blocks — union verified).
  2. tools/validate.py conflict reconciled as a true union of every gate: magic/alchemy (supply_limit_conflicts, document_error + _end_to_end_bad_mapping malformed-doc regressions, recipe/rate-model/tier-boundary/loadout/loss-stop) + mining (pickaxe suite) + GE-flip lifecycle (floor-tax, scheduler, conservation, slot-phase, buy-capacity, slot-reuse, two-rotation ledger) + the repaired woodcutting gates (canonical axe table 41-WC-use/40-Attack-equip, three deterministic modes, per-selected-row 27/28 dynamic rates, drop-GP-zero, prepare wiring, no-axe->failed, afk-xp-only drop transition). No function from either side was dropped (def-set diff vs both originals: empty).
  3. Duplicate execution removed (governor 10637): the run_flip_selftest alias is gone. The merged validator has four GENUINELY DISTINCT suites, each executed exactly once per invocation: run_selftest (cross-field: supply consistency + malformed docs + alchemy rate/tier/loadout), run_flip_selftest (GE-flip lifecycle), run_mining_selftest (mining), and the new run_woodcutting_selftest (woodcutting fixtures). Both --selftest and the ordinary gated path call all four exactly once; the CODEX_SKIP_REGRESSION_SUITES recursion guard for the child-validator fixture is preserved. Woodcutting per-entry gates wired into main() (woodcutting_errors alongside the alch/GE/mining gates).

Verification evidence (all run on the pushed head 0c2e38c, tree = codex/ with 6 entries — woodcutting + mining + low-alch-members + low-alch-f2p + magic alch handoff + flip catalog):

  • python3 tools/validate.py -> RESULT: 6 entries, 0 errors, 0 warnings (exit 0). The pre-existing low-alch-f2p researched WARN is gone — main's citation-sweep PR #10 resolved it.
  • python3 tools/validate.py --selftest -> RESULT: selftest, 0 errors, 0 warnings — 144 unique PASS / 0 FAIL (verified: 144 unique lines, zero duplicates; the 2 message lines containing "FAILS" are PASS line fixture names). Truthful unique count — the same combined suite no longer runs twice.
  • git diff --check clean (working tree + staged).
  • Exact mergeability: head 0c2e38c is a merge commit whose second parent IS 5ca8324b (current origin/main), so the exact merge tree is the committed tree — green by construction and confirmed by Gitea.

Post-push verification: PR #12 state=open, merged=false, head.ref=issue-3 @ 0c2e38c9981f, base=main @ 5ca8324b8aa1, mergeable=true, changed files = 3 (codex/training/woodcutting-f2p.yaml +692, schemas/entry.schema.json +117, tools/validate.py +571/-2) with non-empty diff.

Governor merge — exact current-base result verified

Merged head 0c2e38c9981fcf110ec5f1bb6cdc0e98271b1c90 only after independently constructing its synthetic merge onto base 5ca8324b8aa14e20337923c540b83464816cd514 in an isolated worktree.

Evidence on that exact merge result:

  • merge completed cleanly and git diff --check <base> was clean;
  • python3 tools/validate.py → 6 entries, 0 errors, 0 warnings;
  • python3 tools/validate.py --selftest → 0 errors, 0 warnings with the alchemy/citation, GE lifecycle, Mining, and Woodcutting suites defined separately and invoked exactly once in both self-test and ordinary validation paths;
  • the former run_flip_selftest alias/duplicate execution is gone;
  • direct review confirms the Woodcutting lifecycle still covers inventory/bank axe discovery, bounded GE open/buy/wait/collect recovery, verified equip-or-carry behavior, missing-axe failure, deterministic mode selection, mutually exclusive drop/bank routes, per-row 27/28-slot rates, and zero realized GP for dropped logs;
  • all merged Magic/Alchemy, Mining, GE-flip, malformed-document, schema, and citation gates are preserved.

Evidence on that exact merge result: - merge completed cleanly and `git diff --check <base>` was clean; - `python3 tools/validate.py` → **6 entries, 0 errors, 0 warnings**; - `python3 tools/validate.py --selftest` → **0 errors, 0 warnings** with the alchemy/citation, GE lifecycle, Mining, and Woodcutting suites defined separately and invoked exactly once in both self-test and ordinary validation paths; - the former `run_flip_selftest` alias/duplicate execution is gone; - direct review confirms the Woodcutting lifecycle still covers inventory/bank axe discovery, bounded GE open/buy/wait/collect recovery, verified equip-or-carry behavior, missing-axe failure, deterministic mode selection, mutually exclusive drop/bank routes, per-row 27/28-slot rates, and zero realized GP for dropped logs; - all merged Magic/Alchemy, Mining, GE-flip, malformed-document, schema, and citation gates are preserved.
